Evens out Mangala v Kane, possibly.

The cliché of taking each game as it comes is spot on here. We have another bus to catch before we play Spurs & it's just as big a game. Neither team will be finishing above us, both purely represent points.

True. We have a tough match tomorrow but have to keep Spurs in our mind as well. Fern should be rested tomorrow.

I dont fear any of those teams we have coming up, hopefully we wont drop more than 2 points. Liverpool are doing good and ~I expect them to win all theirs and be there at the end of the season fighting for the title maybe. Hope I am wrong

spurs won't be easy but I would hope for first time in a while we may actually see more of an open game of football.

I think we should just go full on for the points & treat every Prem game as equal during this period. We can't guarantee winning all the games but the rags will drop more points along the line & they are the only team who could realistically catch us.

If we beat all the lower teams coming up & lost to Spurs, we could still be 11 points or better, ahead of the rags by the end of it.

We have unsuprisingly suffered a little dip in form since the fantastic start of the season
But then bounced back against the rags .As others have said we need to find our shooting boots again .and hopefully stop giving daft goals away. After saying that every City fan must be hugley delighted the football we are playing and the unbelievable records we seem to be breaking each week .This team is such a delight to watch .Bring on Swansea

They just blew 2 points v Everton & are mies away from even dreaming about a title challenge.

Not a cat in hell's chance whatsoever of fighting for anything in the Prem but top 4.

Sorry, are you saying you think Liverpool could potentially pick up 16 more points than us over the next 22 games?

For that to happen, I'd suggest they'd have to win at least 20 of those games (which won't happen) and we'd have to seriously collapse.

We have to either lose 4 games or draw 6 or a permintation of both without the rags dropping any points for them to catch us .we will have to suffer some huge bad luck coupled with a disatrious run of form for that to happen .Somehow under Pep even though we are still in 3 other competions i cant see that happening .plus we still have the rags to come to our place

If we can keep up a top 2-3 level points haul over Christmas & New Year, the other teams will start prioriitising the other competitions.

We don't need to keep up this incredible run we are on now, just a typical, every season style, points haul for a top side is enough from now on. If we drop points, so will they.

Spot on. Indeed, I did a bit of maths after the derby and this seems an appropriate place to share the results.

If we get 44 points from our last 22 games, we finish on 90 points, and never has that total failed to clinch the title (89 failed once, and hugely entertaining it was, too, as readers may remember!). Anyway, two points per game from now on is the equivalent of 76 points across a whole season, which these days invariably doesn't even get a team all that close to the title. And 44 points from 22 games would be achieved with a record of, for instance, W - 13 D - 5 L - 4. So that would be a team that's failed to win only a single league game by mid-December slipping up in over 40% of the remaining matches - I reckon that's a fairly conservative contingency built in for fatigue and injuries resulting from fixture pile-ups.

To match us on the hypothetical 90 points, the Rags would have to claim 55 points from now on (and they'd still need to make up a goal difference deficit of 12 to deny us the title). That's 2.5 points per game - equivalent to 95 points over a season, which is the seasonal record tally for 38 games that Mourinho's Chelsea set over a decade ago. The others in the top six would have even more hurculean tasks - most of all Spurs, who have dropped points in half their 16 games so far but would need to win 20 and draw two out of their last 22 matches to reach us on the hypothetical 90, making up a goal difference deficit of 23 in the process.

I suppose you never know, and like many of us who loved through the eighties and nineties, I'm a real old-school blue pessimist. As such, I'm not going to start banging on about the title being won - it isn't - but, bloody hell, we aren't half in a fantastic position already.
