It's incredible to think that we may well break three PL records in the one day against Huddersfield.....most points, most goals and most wins....and then pick up the trophy. What an amazing day it could be.

Typical City.

Where City are concerned things like that don't often happen.

Stuart Pearce has claimed that the Portsmouth goalkeeper Dave Beasant was happy to let him score a history-making penalty – but he still put it over the crossbar.

The Manchester City veteran retired after the club's final game of the season, Sunday's 3-1 win over Portsmouth. In injury time, City were awarded a penalty that, had Pearce scored, would have been his 100th career goal and set a new club record of 109 goals for a league season. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...ven-after-beasants-friendly-word-9265937.html

And of course, United a few Weeks back.

Thankully, Huddersfield aren't great away, and need a win, so an early goal, kiss of death, should force them to attack, and thwart any defensive smash and grab tactics.

It’s getting that early goal, though isn’t it?

I know we did it yesterday, but usually we struggle against parked buses.

Cost me (and probably half of Maine Road) nearly £100 that Pearce penalty miss.

Think we can win all three, and if we do, we'll probably beat all of the opponents by similar scorelines (4-5). It definitely felt like we took our foot off the pedal yesterday in the second-half, and we rarely upped the intensity of the play.

Football matches are curious things, with professional players feeding off the aggression (or lack thereof) of the opponent. If a team does fancy its chances and chooses to play aggressively, then we might raise the tempo and score more goals until they submit, but that is quite a risk for teams to take in such perilous times. I just get the impression that if we can score a few goals against each opponent, we'll be deemed to have been fair to all, respected the competition, and broken the desired records.

Footballers don't grow up dreaming of achieving 100 points in a season so that, now that we've won the PL, its not an easy task for Pep to keep the players motivated. Especially with the WC coming up. Arsenal's invincibles really struggled in the 4 games after they'd clinched the title, despite playing mediocre opposition. They drew twice and had to come from behind to win the final game. The motivation to finish unbeaten only just offset the sense of anti climax after clinching the title.

I just hope our final game doesn't throw up the situation where its level after 70 mins with City needing a point for the 100 and Southampton needing one point to stay up.

Very Anschluss. :-)
That scenario would make for an interesting heat map.
