regardless of Given or Buffon, keeper should't be captain IMO. Just concentrate on a shot coming at goal and a cross coming to the area. Yelling at his defenders is enough for me. Don't place an unnecessary burden on him

I have nothing against kolo toure, he's a great player but he's not a leader. Craig Bellamy is.

Sorry, but for me would have to be Barry or Given - they see more of the game as a whole and an in a better position to organise the troops. Bellamy doesn't need to be lumbered with that responsibility - let him concentrate on scoring and irritating the crap out of the opposition all game.

a captain needs the respect of his team-mates, they don't have to like him but he does have to lead by example... bellamy, as good a player as he is could never fulfil this role.
