Current hierarchy is Dinho, Gundo, Ruben, Kev, Kyle.
With Dinho leaving I wouldn't be surprised to see the rest all remain in the same order just moving up a spot, with someone new slipping in as 5th choice (I think Sterling's been in the group before so he's a shout...otherwise maybe Rodri? Stones? Not sure).
That'd leave Gundo as club captain, serving the role Fernandinho has this year but hopefully with a bit more time on the pitch, but Ruben as captain on the pitch probably in the majority of the season's matches.
Gundo will be a great club captain - calm, sensible, intelligent, well-spoken, a real ambassador for the club and all the squad obviously respect him.
Ruben really thrives in the leadership role on the pitch. He's already learning what it means to be our captain and hopefully by the time Gundo leaves Ruben will have the experience to step up as club captain for years to come.
I don't get the impression that Kev particularly enjoys the traditional leadership elements of a captaincy, he's more someone who leads by example than being especially outspoken. But as our best and longest-serving player and someone who can always be relied on when the chips are down, he belongs in the leadership group and is more than capable of acting as captain in the absence of the other two.
Fourth and fifth captains rarely have to actually wear the armband, just need to be ready for it if it comes and be a positive presence on and off the pitch. Kyle's one of our most experienced players, is pretty reliable and usually cool-headed, is confident and a decent communicator and is almost always in the starting XI. And I'm sure any player that gets voted in as the fifth captain will have similar attributes. With Gundo, Kev and Kyle all over 30, we should probably be looking for the fifth captain to be someone we're looking to keep hold of for a good few years who can slowly move up the hierarchy as the older players move on.
