Next Captain

Dias is a leader regardless.

You and everyone else is right about that and also that maybe he would be the 'best' captain.

But, under Pep it's always been one of the elder members of the squad.

Personally I think that if that was to change now, and sidestep Kev, he'd be really fucked off about it. I'm pretty sure he'll feel 'next in line' under the criteria previously used.

Dias does exude authority, but he could continue to do so without the armband and without us pissing off one of our best ever players by ignoring him for the role.
Good point - I had not really thought about it in that way.

I think it's almost guaranteed to be Kevin. He's the elder statesman of this squad now.

The more interesting question is, if Walker is off as well, who will make up the 5 man leadership/captains group?

KDB, Dias, Rodri will continue on. At least 1, and maybe 2 spots are up for grabs.

I'd say Stones, Ake, Grealish and Haaland are all candidates. If, and it's a big if, Rice were to come in, he'd certainly be in the conversation too.

Not really too bothered as I think we seemingly have a few leaders on the pitch anyway: KDB, Dias, Rodri, Walker and Haaland. Of course, Gundo too but he may be moving on.

RE Dias, not being captain has hardly prevented him for giving team talks, managing the defence and being a leader on the pitch, in general. Not sure if he will be any different if he was made captain.

I don't think it is a big issue but If I had to pick, it would be between him and Rodri.

1. KDB
2. Rodders
3. Diaz

Diaz doesn't need the armband to lead this team, he is a natural (as is Rhodri). KDB deserves the honor tho, he has more than earnt it!
