I had a quick look today - only a handful of times it has been won with less than 80. The last 3 in a row the highest ever. I still think low 80's required.

That remark sent me back to the 76-77 table. Of course, different times, it was the First Division and only two points for a win. I understand all that. But Liverpool won it (from us, by one point! grrrr…) with fifty-seven points! Their home record was good, but they lost no fewer than eight games away. And drew eight away. It was essentially their impregnable home record — considerably better than ours — that won it for them.

We are the only team averaging 2+ pts/game and none of the other teams looks like going on a run - they are actually looking more vulnerable by the week. And Scum's Las Vegas lucky streak looks to have run its course

if we didn't shit the bed we win them anyway, as proved by Sunday when even a Salah dive couldn't help the Dippers. Sometimes you have to play with the loaded deck and just crush the opponent anyway.

Anything over 82 points wins it, particularly with everyone pretty much still to play each other, 80 might even be enough - Liverpool can make 85 max if they win every game, not happening. Rags can make 90 max if they win every game, not happening.

I'm of a similar train of thought but was thinking more in the lines of 86 points should guarantee the title.
One blessing (without wanting to put the mockers on it) is we've played most of the top teams away from home now and barring Leicester I think they all have to play at our place.
Don't think we could ask for more than that in the position we're in.

True but this is an unusual year skewed at both ends with three sides dropping off the pack unlike most years.

We have to look at the second place finishing points total however , last year we managed 81 points and we are 5 points effectively better off than last season at the same time assuming we win our game at Everton.

I cannot see Everton , West Ham , Spurs , Chelsea , or Leicester getting 80 points and all will take points of each other in various combinations when they play.

That leaves Liverpool who can only get 85 points if they win their remaining 15 games and Manure who if they continue on their current trajectory will end up with 75 points.

its more likely that Manure will get 80 points IMO than Liverpool although I would not be surprised if Liverpool end up with more points and if they do it will be short of 80.

My maths is probably shonky but.. if we were able to win our league games up to the League Cup Final.. we could win it that day if other games went our way. So two pots on one day.. how good would that be!! C’mon City make it happen!!

I have been expecting they will have a drop off when Europa league games kick in. The Everton and Sheff Utd results were a bonus.

Still, it's not over til it's over and I'm sure Pep won't let them forget that.
