Next Manager after Pep

Problem with Conte for the BARCA execs is that he is like MANCINI.
Hot headed, and calls them out for shit transfer planning and demands his transfers not what the club may want. Look at Chelsea time or the Inter time where the year before he was pissed Inter bought Erikksen.

i Mean just imagine, if he was the manager and we fucked up getting Kane. He would chew Omar Berrada and Txiki out in a presser lol .....like Mancini had a go at Brian Marwood when he wanted Derossi and Bonucci and we bought Scott Sinclair and Javi Garcia. Soon after that Mancini was gone...

Plus, Conte like Mancini struggles in Champions League for some odd reason.
My bet is on Luis Enrique, knows the Barca guys (Ferran and Txiki/Omar) knows the possesion based style of play can work with in a "Structure" tows the club line "team man" plus had good Pedigree in terms of LEAGUE Titles and CL winner.
Pass pass pass against 10 behind the ball was hoping for something different after Pep goes whenever that may be.

I agree completely.

I've said before that I expect Enrique to follow Guardiola because of his links with Bergiristain, Soriano and Co, to continue the system/structure they've developed since appointing Pellegrini.

Like you, I would prefer a coach who will move away from the rigid pass pass pass and pass again system that I personally find boring and repetitive in the majority of games.

I said Bielsa, Benitez or Rodgers on here not that long ago but it has to be Brendan Rodgers, he tries to play in a similar way to how we play now, speaks Spanish, loads of experience in PL.

Imagine the salty scouse tears if we pipped them to the title with him in charge too :).
Replacing Pep is going to be hard full stop, replacing him with football's very own David Brent would be an utter disaster.

If Txiki stays on after Pep, Enrique is the natural choice, but it would not surprise me if he left with Pep.

If that was the case the club may and will probably change tact.

If we were looking at out laying £200 million plus on Kane and Grealish in the summer would those players be pushing to sign for City if they didn’t know who the manager would be in two seasons time? It’s a boatload of money for a new manager to come in and not fancy them as players in 2023.
Modern day football is based on clubs signing top players and appointing coaches to work with those players, rather than vice-versa.

Players are identified and signed by recruitment teams working under Directors of Football based on detailed scouting and, to a lesser extent than many expect, suggestions by coaches.

The DOF will also be a major influence on the style of play and will identify suitable coaches to maintain/continually develop that style.

While a 'name' coach may well be an attraction to some players, a good DOF will ultimately be more important than the coach at any club.

Doubt they would change, it completely negates the point of a DOF, and long term transfer policies and having all age groups play the same way. Whoever the DOF or manager is they will have a similar philosophy/ Which suits me, I like the way we play our football.

I'm glad we went down the route of getting the best manager in the world instead of a good DOF personally.

Like united did when fergie left?
Well, that was just the problem. They didn't refresh. Gill left his role as CEO, yes, but Woodward was already on the club's board and just got promoted to a slightly higher position. We're thankfully run completely differently to United so that one person like Woodward can't have sole influence over the operations of the club.

But regardless, we got Txiki and Soriano in to build the club in Pep's image so that, when he eventually arrived, he would be able to drop into the job pretty seamlessly. I'd argue we did that well enough, but only because we were planning for Pep from the moment we won the title in 2012. We planned for four years.

When Pep goes, who are Txiki and Soriano going to be planning for? They built City for Pep and then gave him the keys. What happens when Pep hands the keys back? Their record and reputation during the Pellegrini years was patchy at best. Once Pep goes, I'd rather bring in people who have a different vision for the club.

I trust Khaldoon, obviously. If they end up staying then I'm sure things will be alright, but I'd like a refresh anyway. I would also like to be run by people who won't take us into any future incarnation of the Super League, who won't force dodgy ticketing systems on the fans, who might think about bringing ticket prices down...

I think we will find out when Pep is going to go by the next couple of transfer windows.
Are we going to amble along with the current squad until he steps down and then let a new manager come in to rebuild with their own visions?
Or are we going to be aggressive in the next couple of windows and address the areas we all can see that need addressing and make sure Pep continues to be successful and hopefully convincing him to maybe stay longer?

The next Manager should have a degree in IT. As well as having experience in managing a call centre.

You're overlooking the fact that Txiki and Ferran were appointed with the sole aim of attracting Pep Guardiola and development of Barca-style systems throughout the club.
While I, and many others, may doubt it at times, it's impossible to dispute that Txiki Bergiristain is one of the most highly rated DOF's in world football.
No Txiki, no Pep. That's the truth of the matter.

Good post.
Unfortunately, I think that City, along with all the rest of Europe's top clubs, will still have their eyes very firmly fixed on a Super League in the near future. It's inevitable, there's too much money hovering above the table.

That's why we are where we are. The problem is maintenance of performance when Pep leaves.
Which brings us back to the OP!

Personally, I'd prefer to see a lot more flexibility in our style of play when Pep goes, as I find pass, pass, pass rather unentertaining against packed defences.
If Txiki stays, it will almost certainly be more of the same; ie, Enrique. If I'm being honest, I'd rather see Klopp than him.
