Well, that was just the problem. They didn't refresh. Gill left his role as CEO, yes, but Woodward was already on the club's board and just got promoted to a slightly higher position. We're thankfully run completely differently to United so that one person like Woodward can't have sole influence over the operations of the club.
But regardless, we got Txiki and Soriano in to build the club in Pep's image so that, when he eventually arrived, he would be able to drop into the job pretty seamlessly. I'd argue we did that well enough, but only because we were planning for Pep from the moment we won the title in 2012. We planned for four years.
When Pep goes, who are Txiki and Soriano going to be planning for? They built City for Pep and then gave him the keys. What happens when Pep hands the keys back? Their record and reputation during the Pellegrini years was patchy at best. Once Pep goes, I'd rather bring in people who have a different vision for the club.
I trust Khaldoon, obviously. If they end up staying then I'm sure things will be alright, but I'd like a refresh anyway. I would also like to be run by people who won't take us into any future incarnation of the Super League, who won't force dodgy ticketing systems on the fans, who might think about bringing ticket prices down...
