Neymar

Neymar claims that, "My heart chose PSG" and that he transfer was for "a new challenge."

For Christ's sake, why not just be honest about the glaringly obvious reason for the move? I'd respect him more for it.

So glaringly obvious he doesn't need to be 'honest about it'

We should of been in for him. An amazing signing and one of the best players in the world. Massively increases the value of the club and even the French league.

Credit to PSG for completing the signing, never in a million years did I think this would happen when the initial rumors popped up.

I'm glad we weren't in for him, a very good player, but not near the level of Messi or that Portuguese twat at Madrid, and certainly nothing special for Brazil.... who only improved significantly since another young forward started playing for them, and we already have him on board for a fraction of the money spunked by PSG....he will no doubt score shed loads in the French pub league and be creamed over in the media, but can't see them winning the CL...imo Barca lost the weakest of their front three, who also seemed a lot less bothered about it than the Spanish league actually did.

I'm not convinced he solves any problems for PSG. He'll definitely help them improve, such is his quality.

When you look at where PSG have come undone over the years in the Champions League it never felt like all they were missing was a striker.

It felt like their issues were similar to ours. They lacked a certain cohesion despite their talent.

What they need is a really good manager. Either a revolutionary thinker or a proven winner on the biggest stage. I don't believe Emery is either.

When they had Ancelotti, their team was still developing as they'd only recently been taken over. He'd be great now.

You make some good points. 200m is a lot and I also don't see them winning the CL just because of him. I just think feel he would of taken us up a level and hes still only 25 so has time to improve. On the other had I am not sure how he would adapt to the physical PL, he's easily the number 1 diver in world football. I haven't seen him play much for Brazil but I know he scored a lot of goals for them and will probably be all time top scorer.

I don't know why we weren't competing with PSG for him but if that means we can spend the 200m next summer on a top class DM and CB then I am completely fine with it.

What is lacking to PSG is a world class GK.Last year, Emery took over few days prior to the pre-season and Verratti wasn't fit which cost them (us) a slow start.

Yeah your keeper is dodgy as fuck very poor, didn't he make blunders in the game at the etihad and I'm sure a few other matches

well, which keeper are we talking about ? :) Trapp or Areola ? both have made splendid blunders during the US tour...tragic

Couldn't agree more with @Marvin . Imagine a parallel universe in which United have just signed Neymar. The papers, the media, the pundits, Sky, the BBC, Twitter would all be wetting themselves. Talksport would have exploded. "The signing of the Century", "Mourinho shows Barca who's boss", "United prove they really are the biggest club in the world", "In Neymar's words - A dream come true".
And the inevitable endless articles justifying the price and proclaiming a match made in heaven. Phil Neville no doubt using Neville-logic to show that United didn't just not overpay, they actually got a bargain! Bless him.

And then there's the reality - snidey journalists questioning the source of the funds and the legitimacy of the transaction. Oh and don't forget to mention Man City in the same sentence.

Them and us, them and us, them and us...
