Re: NFL Draft & Menelik Watson (City Related)

He has huge potential but there are lot of things about his game that NFL teams wont like.

He will be 25 in his Rookie year, and with little football experiance, ideally a team would red shirt (bench) him while he learns from an experianced lineman for a year or two but that means no NFL until he is 26 or 27.

His footwork is limited, and he works from a narrow base, which means despite his size, there will be NFL D-Lineman and linebacks who are a similar size who will be able to push him around.

He hands are super fast but his placement is poor, he tends to grab to the outside which will se a lot of holding penalties.

He may go late in the first, there are better O-Lineman in the draft Joeckel, Fisher and Johnson will all go before him. Best bet is possibly the Broncos (27th Pick, Round 1). They operate a zone blocking scheme and love to pull their tackle's so his athleticism would fit in perfectly. Dont be surprised though if he drops. Taking him would be a gamble, and i think if he doesnt go early, then teams will start to get nervous. "Why is no-one picking him", "what do they know that we dont" and so he could end up coming out in the 6th+ round.

I did not understand any of that. Why does American football have to be so confusing!

Playing on the offensive line is roughly equivalent to playing at CB in the upper levels of European football, i.e. it's much more complicated than it appears to people unfamiliar with it.

6 foot 6, near 23 stone and fast as hell. The guy is a beast.

He should have stayed one more year at Florida State as the next year, if he performed how he did last year, he would go top 10-15 in the draft.

Good luck to him.
