Was a much better game this year. Still not sure why the NFL feel they have to 'expand the global brand' though, it is by far the most popular sport over here, it rakes in fooking squillions.

(same reason the Prem want a 39th game I suppose...more $$$!)

I heard on the radio recently that the world series was originally named after a now defunct newspaper called 'The World' (or something like that).

Not sure if that's true or not though, but if so it rather puts paid to our bemoaning.

Edit: Thinking about it, I'm not really sure what sport they were talking about, so the above could be totally irrelevant.

NFL had the European league, which did ok in Germany. It does seem kind of pointless, unless you plan on having teams play out of Mexico or England.

The world bowl was won by London Monarchs once. The European League ended up with around six teams, all but one for Germany.

At least this will help the grass grow.

I believe thats for Baseball, no idea if its the same for NFL?

So they have a world championship in NFL then?
