As said, buxton, bakewell are nice, if you want to be near hebden the Todmordens ok too and a easy canal walk between both towns

after the mayflower, drifters was the best place for those sort of gigs.

blitz were really good, weren't they.

think they were from chapel-on-le-frith,
along with violators, who also played at drifters

gbh are still at it, you know.
seen them a couple of times in past few years & they were better than back then

Carl Fisher lead singer of Blitz.
I went to school with most of The Violators Matchi, Ajax, Helen Hill and Stylesie. Ajax sadly died of leukaemia in his early 20s.

7 pages in and only 2 people have mentioned Duckingfield.
One who hasn't been since 1980 and one who simply, but bizarrely, only mentions Morrisons.

It would be wrong to say its the land that time forgot as time never knew about it in the first place.
Dukinfield.

Lymm some nice pubs and restaurants and a few nice walks.

La Boheme being a lovely restaurant.
A few years ago we used to do comedy nights in Lymm. Think it was the rugby club or tennis club. Matthew Corbett of Sooty and Sweep fame used to be in the audience (had a boat moored there apparently) and thought it most amusing to heckle all the acts.

We used to piss him off by pretending we'd never heard of him, or calling him Ronnie Corbett.

Great afterwards, but he thought making all the acts life difficult was part of the show. ****

He had the House over the canal from Golden Fleece. Sold a few years ago I think. They still do comedy at the rugby club, might be more enjoyable now if hes gone.
