I have no idea who this kid is but he wouldn't have made it through Barca's academy and into the first team as a midfielder if he was anything like Kalvin Phillips. It's just not what they do.

Evidence to suggest mayb the les popular likes of Ederson, Dias, Rodri, Alvarez, Doku, Savinho etc. Aren't so bad

Maybe the evidence is that players you haven't heard of, tend to be better than ones you know?
Not sure what your point is, as the club/scouts will be watching all potential signings equally....and the same scouts judge them whether they are playing in the prem or Outer Mongolian league.....and the same scouts thought all of them would be good signings.

Looking at the YT’s it’s got to be the toughest position to look good on there CDM, as it’s about doing the simple things well all of the time.

So I don’t think we can read too much.

Not a player I know too much about, but Viana must do.

Buying end of the window via a release clause seems a bit of not getting our main target.

In the same Mahmoush feels like our first choice for that position, this one does not.

I’m still not fully convinced Dias was first choice when we got him and things worked out ok.

This could very well be play style related, he plays next to a classic ball winner who has a ton of interceptions. Rodri has 0.59 interceptions per game.


Why would you want your DM to have high clearances? A clearance is defined as a long ass forward without a receiver. Rodri has a clearance rate of around 1 per game

97th percentile of what.. because winning 29/68 aerial duels for a 6'2 cdm is crap.. Rodri won 70% of his last season for reference(55/78)..5'9 Fernandinho always averaged over 60% for us too..it's an essential tool for keeping teams pegged in.

All our midfielders have more interceptions than him this season and average more possession than Porto until our dip so it's about the same

Clearance- Action by a defending player that temporarily removes the attacking threat on their goal/that effectively alleviates pressure on their goal. << Lack of midfielders helping out with this consistently not been a problem for you?
Bernie, Gundo and Kova have more than this lad btw.

Agree has never been known for his pace. But i think it's obvious to see our midfielders 'lack of pace with Gundogan and Kovacic is one of our weaknesses.

Agree.....and I did post earlier, that playing for Porto, bar games against Sporting & Benfica....he isn't going to get many chances to intercept or clear.
