And Akanji. Relies on us have Ake or Dias fit, then presumably we can do that. Also req'uired playing Marmoush or Doku as a wide player.

At least Stones is back and even with the bad pass to Akanji he has looked like a quality player.
 
One positive from yesterday then, removing the penny pinching from our quest to get a midfielder. Hopefully better than our last Porto midfileder(even though i quite liked him personally).

What happened to him? Wasn't he scoring a goal a game a while back? Supposed to be the next world class striker in the PL. And now he can't get a game ahead of Welbeck?
 
Finally, let's hope it's third time lucky with the midfielders. After Phillips and Nunes, I think we got a good one, and I expect him to adapt quickly to our style of play.
 
Very limited exposure to this lad, but looks decent. Certainly seems to cover the ground much more effectively then our current CM options. Decent range of passing and should be better at breaking up the flow of opponents compared to the Old Folks Home. Also, he's a tall SOB, which is underestimated with Rodri in helping to cut out those lofted counter balls we love soooo much

These people literally get paid actual money for their "expert opinions"?! He seriously can't see a reason why we'd want to bring in a midfielder right now?

Top 4, FA Cup, Champions League. Re-building. What worries me is that Pep will play a player if he came from someone elses academy but if he comes from our academy he won't play them. I will not be happy if this means O'Reilly is the latest player to be sold. If it does, I think City fans might start to lose a little faith with Pep / Txiki.

Your academy / youth team is the resource with which to bring players through as the first team ages. Use it. Why can't Pep do this?

If you look at a list of the 'best players' from La Masia, who have moved to the Prem....you'd be shitting yourself about those chances ;)
That's not necessarily my opinion, I think where they come from is irrelevant.

I see some people making parallels to Javi Garcia and I get why, but the signing I hope we can replicate is another similiar one. Chelsea sold Nemanja Matic to Benfica as a raw and unfinished and then bought him back january the following year and he instantly made their midfield better.

We need that kind of impact if we have any ambitions this season, but either way I think there is a lot of potential here that we can benefit from long-term
