Maybe. Just shows how you can be so close to signing someone and not realize that they are going to become one of the worlds greatest players. I suppose you can't say that he would have turned out the same under a different manager and system of play. Things just happen I guess.

United websites and forums have Photoshop photos of him in there famous 7 shirt. The guy United are using to get Gaitan is the same man who brought in Anderson Nani and Ronaldo. He is an expert at transferring South American/Portugese players around. And he is working for United and using his contacts with Benfica to bring in Gaitan. Apparently its already a done deal. He'll move in the summer
