Nicolas Gaitan

Big no for me.

City needs a winger who can establish himself as a regular starter and Gaitan is not good enough to do that.

Why don't we go direct to Argentina and save ourselves 10's of millions?

Probably a bit more of a gamble obviously, but instead of getting fleeced by European clubs i think we should begin to trust our own judgment in picking our own players from slightly more obscure leagues.

I don't know much about Argentine domestic football, but i'm pretty sure there will be more players like Gaitan, Di Maria, Pastore, Lavezzi, Higuain etc there.

For a start will help us shake the imagine we have of being a giant cash cow for the rest of Europe.

I think this year has proven this is exactly what we are doing... maybe not restricting ourselves to Argentina, but a lot of attention has obviously been directed toward Spain and their young prospects.

Gaitan is a great player but City have many players for his place (like Silva, Nasri..). City needs defenders.

Benfica wants more than 30M for him. I think he is great, has potencial but City don´t need Gaitan.

Only internet wannabe's judge on 1 game that's shown on sky sports.

Scouts and managers judge on a much broader and longer term. Gaitan is much better than what we have.

Well, i don't really mean 16 year olds, the players above were bought late-teens/early 20's, for considerable fees, it's just within one or 2 years their value seems to treble if we come sniffing. Why don't we skip the Benfica stage and just bring them straight here, then if it doesn't work out they'll be on moderate wages and will probably retain their value still, so easy to get rid without too much of a loss.

I mean, for every Higuain there's probably 3 Mauro Boselli's, we've just got to back ourselves to pick the correct players and then give them a chance.

It just seems kind of a lazy and costly approach, if we think our coaching and scouting is good enough, i don't see why we have to pay these inflated fees.

people who know what they're talking about couldn't fathom why Wigan bought Boselli.

Manchester United have verbally agreed to sign Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan for £22million plus Macheda & Bebe in a swap deal. [o jogo]

Surely Benfica couldn't be this ridiculously stupid? Bebe is Bebe and Macheda is absolutely awful.

I think City can offer them Ade + RSC + Bridge + Weiss + Dzeko for Gaitan.
