Otamendi is also an underrated passer me thinks. Made a lot of vertical passes to our forwards and attacking midfielders.
It seemed very last ditch as we're playing in such a high line. It will look like we're lacking pace when we're actually not. There's not a lot of fast CBs around. Laporte isn't exactly fast. Pique isn't fast either and Hummels are slow for comparison's sake.I think he's done well. Much better than last season when imo he was getting credit for something pretty average. But Kolarov has something extra by comparison.

The thing with pacey CB is they probably wouldn't be tall. Any player who's tall and fast is rare, on top of my head Bale and Sane has that quality. I'm thinking a combination of height (Stones) and pace (Otamendi) is good enough. Right now our fastest CB has to be Otamendi.Hummels is fucking terrible imo. But Piquet is a lot quicker than he looks. Laporte looks like as if he has good pace over a longer distance. Boateng is fast. Mascherano used to be quicker than a typical cb but is losing it.
Otamendi is at full stretch all the time imo. Kolarov is dead slow. Stones is ok but not lightning. VK may still have enough pace but Denayer & Tosin are yards quicker.
I may be wrong but next season I'd be surprised if we don't have much more pace accross the back 4, at least as an option. And that also potentially puts Otamendi's position under pressure.

Fuck it though, we will allow it against the rags. Those hand ball shouts and Rooney being a massive twat, I'd say that's a one day pass for Otamendi to play act.Absolutely immense today but he needs to cut out that play acting shit. It's embarrassing.
