Otamendi's shit he's fucking crap as fuck, he's the best in the league bar none! best centre half in world football!!

he's neither, he's just a very decent standard centre half who is prone to making similar mistakes.

Do you have any stats to show how often Stones' positioning meant the opposition were unable to pass the ball forward and create a chance?

I happen to rate Otamendi, but stats can only tell you so much.

I thought he was again good in the challenge but scatty as hell in possession. Also his positioning was poor last night.

He was superb for large parts last night and made a lot of crucial interceptions.
 
He doesn't have a brain. Has no positional awareness and isn't a partner to anyone he has played alongside. He plays like hes in an U12s team, just runs wherever the ball is.

He splits opinion because he slides in a lot and we all love that in England dont we? If he slides in to make tackles, he must be good.

I believe he is playing his last season at City, Pep wont wear his headless chicken approach.

he didn't react to fernandinhos slip.. he was standing right alongside Messi. the most dangerous player in the world.. and just didn't react. Granted.. not expecting a slip but for fuck sake, react.
he won some 50/50's in the first half. He was abysmal for Neymars goal.. himself and Stones attempts at tackling were just laughable.
 
No fucker reacted to fernys slip, nobody and as you say, Stones got completely megged by Neymar.

Given that and not one of the back 4 covering themselves in much glory last night, how Otamendi can be singled out im not too sure as he was our best defender last night for large parts of the game.

he was in my hole. A defender defends. he can win headers and 50/50's but how many needless fouls did he give away in dangerous positions? how many times was he out of position?
going to ground should be the last option for a defender, for this guy, it's his go to move.

We won't win much with him in the team. A complete and utter liability

I have my concerns about him make no mistake but im only talking about last nights game here and in no way was he abysmal or our biggest issue at the back last night.

Truth is, they all have to sort their shit out, all of them.

Otamendi will get singled out because at the moment he appears to be the absolute opposite of a Pep defender. Stones is a Pep defender, we all recognise that. We accept he might not be the best defender in the world because we know he has other "Pep" attributes. Otamendi displays no such attributes, Pep publicly warned him earlier in the season and for a couple of games it appeared that the warning had been heeded. However in recent weeks he has just reverted to type. At the moment he is a liability, in the odd game his bull in a china shop approach will work (United) and we all celebrate what a defender he can be but in the main his style will cost us.

What's he meant to do with Ferns slip? Fern has possession, there's no danger, Messi is naturally moving in that direction as he moves in to close down Fernandinho, the only way Otter can compete is if he runs towards his own player 5 yards away in possession in the box which would be fucking stupid.
 
The jury is still out with him for me overall but he wasn't the worst defender last night. stones had a mare.

Kompany can't come back soon enough but how likely is it that he will play regularly?

If it wasn't so gutting it would've been funny. I wouldn't mind I think it would've hit his head if his hands weren't there, can't be sure though and can't bring myself to watch a replay.
 
He is absolutely brain dead. I likened him to a Labrador cos as soon as he see's the ball he chases after it without a single thought about the space he leaves behind, or about screwing over the rest of the defence. Without Kompany next to him holding his leash he is an absolute liability.
