What bugs me most about Otamendi and maybe it's really Pep but he comes into midfield and isn't a great passer. He'd be better off giving the ball to the midfielders and getting out of their way.

Last night he was taking the ball from Garcia and then slowing down our forward motion.

IMO this is all part of Pep's challenge. Our defenders are not good enough to be midfielders - especially Otamendi.

He has not got composure without the ball. Simple as. Far too rash. Commits himself to a tackle too much too often when it's better to stay on feet. Thought he was phasing this out of his game this season and had a few really good games but the old otamendi is well and truly back now.

He's our best CB when it comes to passing it forward though

For example he's created 4 chances from passing it out from the back...Stones/Kompany/Kolarov - 0

he's even worse than Barbara Streisand at Chelsea for the Playstation defending. He charges out of his defensive line on a whim, dives on his arse and is then in a position where no defender wants to be, running back towards goal. He must be a fucking nightmare to partner. He wins some visually pleasing challenges. That's about it. If he was a good defender he wouldn't need to slide in on his arse as his go to defensive weapon.

We will never look like a solid back 4 with this guy in it. He is too erratic.

This is what annoyed me about Ota last night, the number of times he gave the ball away when he went forward. Defensively he made some good interceptions but then countered that by going to ground so often, a really frustrating player.

I disagree when his passing been questioned. I actually think it's decent. My issue with him is him constantly diving in, getting dragged out of position and spending more time on his arse than his feet. Needs replacing. It doesn't matter how much we spend on centre halves, we seem to always need another one.

This all day. Fernandinho does the same thing in midfield fwiw (although tbf he stays on his feet) but it gets overlooked because he wins visually pleasing tackles or makes interceptions. We would be better if we just calmed down a bit.

What bugs me about him is his whole tough guy image, he Gets tackled rolls on the floor like he's hurting then jumps up instantly giving it the big one.
TOUGH MEN DONT ROLL AROUND ON THE FLOOR FELLA
