How about credit where its due from some on here, he was the launch pad for much of what we did while his reading of situations cut out any danger as he made the central area his ( And cleaned up more than a few times after Stones).

His passes into midfield are excellent, I do honestly think him and Stones could be a formidable partnership if given time.
I do. I thought he played well in odd games last season but we had no defensive tactics as a team so you cannot judge him off last season really.

We need to stick with a pair and play them every week. If Kompany is fit he'll have to prove he can stay fit in training and cup games and stick with Stones and Otamendi imo

Kompany can't be trusted anymore so we need to put our trust into Stones and Otamendi

Far and away our best defender last season. Him and Stones could form a formidable partnership once both form an understanding of eachother's games and start to iron out their flaws.

Recall him diving in needlessly once in the box making a very risky challenge that for a moment looked like a penalty but overall a drastic improvement on his usually horroe show. He's not an ideal fit for a Pep side by any means, i personally thought he'd be out the door as soon as Pep saw him in training but If Pep can stop him going to ground, aand can teach him something even remotely like a bit of positional sense he'll have his uses in this squad just as long as it is next to Stones or Kompany. Wouldn't be comfortable with him as the main ball player as his passing is horrendous.

That's just wrong

This. This. I'm seeing a lot more appreciation from people that I didn't see last year. He's a beast in the air (just compare him to Stones, it was night and day). Pep will clean up some of the sliding... but that is a major strength in his game. That will make some nervous but that is what he brings, the high risk/reward. I think it's worth it. I'm glad some have brought up the dortmund match. If you're going to question his style, at least give him some credit in the games where he dominates playing to his strengths. I'm not sure of the pecking order once Vinny gets fit but he's one hell of a third choice. I think it's totally acceptable to be critical, but as someone who rates him and tries to be neutral when it comes to discussions, he doesn't get the credit he deserves from people who aren't a fan of him/his style.

Pep's on his case.
Telling him to only side in as a very last resort.he is listening as he only slid I'm a couple of times on Tuesdsy.

good. glad that Pep notice this.
as a last 2 defensive man, playing with defending high lines system,
mindless gung ho approach and reckless sliding tackle is not a wise decision.
once they missed it, there's open goal for opponents to score.
Otamendi missed lot of tackles last season.
he should change the way he play, and calculated everything in his decision.
