He is, but Ota is still the most senior defender we have got and has shown he can cover.

One on one defending against a player with more pace than you and 50 yards behind to run into is the most difficult thing to do in football.

Our lack of pace at the back today was frightening

  3. A player we should have moved on 2 Seasons ago but no we need him because Stones is shit, our left backs are shit ,our new buy right back is pretty shit. Our replacement DM is a bit shit..etc etc etc.

He is our most senior defender but hes not a leader so hes not exactly good to pair someone with also pep should have known better to put him with zinky on the left side it was a disaster waiting to happen. We should just use these next few months to get garcia blooded in hes already shown more leadership qualities than ottamendi!

People are being harsh on cancelo he cant come good if he can never play and today he played well considering. But yes our defensive recruitment outside of laporte have been awful in recent years. We need to actually start selling players who arent good enough like other clubs do.

He plays well until he doesn’t. I thought he had a decent first half, blocked a few shots but then gave away stupid free kicks

I’m not one for making excuses but we only played one defender yesterday, and it was him. What did we think would happen?

He’s been here too long but always tries his best. I’d rather 11 Otemendi’s than 11 John Stones - he doesn’t hide and takes some responsibility, which unfortunately is his downfall as he makes the same mistakes which he presumably was making in youth football

He is what he is, an accident waiting to happen, should of moved on but he hasn't, not good enough at this level, don't think he would get in any of the top 10 teams in the premiership.

Was amazed that penalty wasn't given against him yesterday.
