Nicolas Tagliafico

How good is he? Only saw Ajax in their CL games when the spuds luckily/cheated them out of that semi-final.

Is he as good as Marcos Alonso, whom it seems Chelsea want rid of?

Not so sure, I think the club have waited until the very last minute and are ready to commit for a long term Kun replacement, now is the perfect time with many clubs short of cash.
Can’t see it mate . As much a I want to see this done the transfer is just too big to do in a few days as they would want to replace the players. Be great though .

I agree unlikely, but with the way the club plans things it would not surprise me.

Athletico signing Swarez was a strange one considering they are rumoured to have financial issues and with the players already at the club, maybe someone is leaving.

The same with Inter, they signed Sanchez and it was widely expected Martinez would be leaving this summer.

About the same...both shit!

That is an extremely reasonable price. Why on earth did Chelsea sign Chilwell if he was available for that?

I started looking at Tagliafico in the beginning of the summer and hoped we could go for him before anyone else. I rate him a lot. He’s not very tall but has a massive leap and a threat in set-pieces, have temper and speed. He looks like a bad-ass leftback and I really want him.

I do find it strange you have United who needs a leftback, Chelsea needed a leftback and was also keen on Tagliafico, yet he didn’t move. Could it be he waited for City or already had an agreement?

I have no doubt United have poached Ajax for Tagliafico before or after trying to get Telles from Porto.

They probably want better as should we!

Marcos Alonso is way too slow. He's the last left back we should be looking at.

Tagliafico is a cool name and if Youtube is any guide he tackles anything that moves but I doubt he's an upgrade on Cancelo.

Every Summer we do this. Spend £100m on 4 good players rather than buying an elite player that truly makes a difference.

The guy on Sky earlier said he can't defend, doesn't attack all that well but could play that creative, inverted fullback role for City.

I thought he was pretty good at defending & a good crosser etc, have I got the wrong bloke ?

I know it's a lazy comparison to make but based on watching him, he is a bit like Zabaleta. Maybe a yard quicker.

name a world class LB that we would be able to get for a decent fee AND wants to come to us? Alaba doesn’t for a start! Plus anyone on huge money affects squad moral is the message we get told?

Re the Zinchenko squad space issue.

The club are either waffling or maybe have someone else already lined up for the spare space we already have.....just hope we're not just keeping an empty seat incase Messi has a change of heart on deadline day.
Just to back this up (apologies if been covered in more detail earlier in the thread), as it stands we have 2 free spaces for an Overseas player in the PL squad & one in the CL squad (Torres counts as U21 in the PL but has to be on the A list in the CL)

I don’t understand you don’t rate him.
Here’s an interesting read. He’d be perfect for us. A great mix of offensive and defensive qualities.

Not the awnser but better than Mendy. Maybe Tagliafico this summer, before selling Mendy next summer and signing another left back.

Not to sure I agree with this.
We've spent considerably over £25M on most players recently Rodri, Mahrez, Cancelo etc.
The last two truly elite players we appear to have looked at namely Pogba and Sanchez I'm quite glad we didn't sign.

It's a good read, it's certainly raised my excitement level for the prospect of getting the guy. Many thanks.

We continue to have a strong squad as apposed to a strong 11 and this is why we have won so much. If the option is to spend £100 million on one player without fixing the squad or use the 100 to fix problems it has to be option 2.

Next year we will have to spend over £100 million to get a Sergio replacement. Maybe that is the plan. Squad this window and a star forward next summer?

I'm hoping we sign him. He looks decent and his stats compare well with other top players in that position. He's a natural left back and would provide good balance to the back four.

If Mendy manages to recapture his pre-injury form and keeps fit I would expect him to be our first choice, but unfortunately we just can't count on that.

There seems to be a lack of available top class left back's on the market today so, for this fee it feels like a no-brainer. Especially when you consider what Chelsea paid for Chilwell. At least the window closes soon, so it won't be a long, drawn out saga!
