Nigel De Jong a disservice

Whatever his contract situation, if selected, Nigel needs even more support than ever from all blues going to the match on Saturday.
The Geordies will be baying for his blood after the Ben Arfa incident last season and will be screaming and crying like bitches ever time he so much as looks at a Newcastle player. They will do their utmost to try and pressure Foy into sending him off. Let's show Nigel the love if he plays.

Roberto Mancini does not expect Nigel De Jong's lack of first-team chances to prevent him from signing a new contract at the club.

The Dutchman has made just two Premier League appearances this season as the form of his fellow midfielders and a number of injuries have prevented him from replicating his success of last campaign.

Last season the tough-tackling midfielder played 41 times for Mancini's men but failed to make the bench for their last league match against QPR and was an unused substitute in two league games prior to that.

But Mancini is confident that he will extend the enforcer's stay in Manchester and he is in no rush to force the issue.

"Nigel is an important member of the squad but he had an injury and was out with an ankle injury for two months," Mancini said. "He has played three or four games in the last month.

"I don't think we have a problem with his contract because he has another year, he have time to talk. I don't think it has affected him at all."
