He needs somebody like Johnson next to him rather than Kompany. A player who will take the ball from him and bring it forward, linking the play between midfield and attack. Think of how Mascherano and Alonso complement each other in the Liverpool midfield.

i like him, but at the moment i'd definately prefer kompany partnering jonson for next year, with de jong filling in. kompany has the class, and the rare gift of being able to set the rythym for the rest of the team, like didward ham-man used to.

Class player and as much as i like Kompany i prefer Nige to him in the defensive midfield role. De Jong's use of the ball is much better than Kompany's. I'm hoping VK will go to centre back next season where i think he'll be an even better player

it was an article that got bandied about in translation and was made to look bad. He seems a clever boy and wouldn't piss on his chips so early in his City career.

De jong was amazing today in training, absolutely class and works so hard, he limpt off with a dead leg and never returned, i hope he's alrite for the weekend.

Showed his class at Anfield when he held things together defensively, allowing what looked like a defensive set-up to get forward and cause them problems, with Kompany in particular able to join Superman in a more attacking role. Next season he'll be fitter and know more about what to expect from the Premier League, so we'll hopefully see the best of him, so I've got high hopes.

De Jong is a proper tidy player

It goes unnoticed to the untrained eye... but yeah.. he's very neat... wins the ball without fuss... lets it off without fuss.

If we build our team around him next year as I've posted above and with an engine of him and Stevie, we won't go far wrong.

His knickname at Hamburg was the Hoover.....I can see why..Cleans up then tidy's round.

Most of the Hamburg fans who came on here said they rated De Jong better than Vk and we had yet to see the best of him.
