NIKE SIGNED FOR NEW KIT DEAL

I heard we were in for puma a few months ago on here
Dunno if it was just spitballs but i hope so

just an update, im not a ITK or a WUM....

however my next door neighbour ( well over the road anyway ), is quite high up within Umbro and is often tieing up contracts in ASIA on a quartely basis. I never EVER talk about work with him as to be honest it doesnt really interest me .. however when this thread came up i thought id be a bit nosey and well pop the question.....

He is 99% certain that UMBRO have the contract for next season the 1% is that the contract hasnt been signed although its been agreed .

He followed it up by telling me not to buy any kits for my kids as he will get them for nothing for me.

Hes a middle aged guy ( and a Geordie ) so has no interest in bullshitting me and he just isnt that kinda guy......

so there you have it.... the OP i guess is correct if NIKE own UMBRO.....

but next years kit WILL be UMBRO...

Yes Umbro are like Nike's backup brand and nothing more, not that I want Nike, but if your with Umbro your going nowhere and they will not push your brand name(Nike as a group). LCS are small true, but there is just 1 year left on that deal, as I see it we are a prize asset right now and pulling out of the LCS deal a year early should only be done for a GREAT deal and Umbro can never be that. You sign with Umbro and you will be tied down for years(I'm guessing 5), Chelsea paid big bucks to get out of that deal and where do we expect to be say 2 years from now challanging as a top club, where Chelsea where when they had to buy themselves out. On top of that Umbro fucked City when we where their no1 asset and I see nothing that would not place us firmly in the same boat again, indeed simply being with Umbro is Nike's way of undervaluing us.

I dont think we should be worry about who it is for marketing reasons. I'm pretty sure City will get everything they want/need out of this deal.

IMHO

Kit manufacturers are like everything else in life and range from really trendy to naff....however i dont know where UMBRO lives in that....

I take it you wheren't around then in the early 90s when the rags switch back to Umbro and they(Umbro)screwed with us not 1 but 2 seasons in a row. I think one year our home shirt was pushed back over a month, to allow for the rags 3rd strip to be shipped to the stores.
