Nike to make Kits

I think this is class too.

Does this come with a string of onions and a bike?

I would demand they continue Umbro's policy of making 'bespoke' kits for City. I don't want to see Nike just making a lazy sky blue version of the same old shite they churn out for the rags and every other club they do business with

Indeed... Hopefully they'll dump one of their other brands on the Rags such as Converse (lol)

That shirt was a work of art

While I agree with you, it's a work of art, my favourite was the following year. The blue a little muted, subtle pin-stripes, that to me was perfect. The collar on that years while gorgeous, looks a wee bit tight around the neck and not very comfortable.
What do you mean looks a wee bit tight????

I am not trying to ruffle any feathers! It's a gorgeous kit. Just being someone that is slightly claustrophobic it looks a little high for my liking. Still love it though. I just like the following years even better!

Not like Barcelona, Madrid or United for sure but I guess Liverpool ones could be challenged. Not in shirt sales but in media exposure.
The record ever world wide audience for a domestic football match points to that being the case.

I didn't argue we dont get the exposure as its obvious we do now but we still wont get stadiums full of Koreans watching us train as they are imbedded as rags and dippers. It will take a few more years but we are more than capable of producing the revenue i just dont think we do yet
Nike probably want to jump in nice and early to insure they got there hands on the money pot though

Nike had bargain advertising for Umbro this year so it's probably cool for them even to overpay for next 2-3 years but to secure a deal don't go to their competitors when City reach the peak..

Nike own Umbro. Makes sense.

"The Umbro sponsorship, which has been in place since June 2009, will continue to the end of the 2012/13 season, after which all kit, training wear and related products will be designed, manufactured and distributed by Nike. The contract will run until 2019."

Does this mean Nike abandon U****d and are replaced by Carbrini or someone?

I personally hate Nike and have never wore a Nike item of clothing since I was 13.
I don't like or wear any Nike gear at all neither. Adidas footwear, ISC training gear, umbro training gear, and i like the City Umbro stuff. Never liked Nike. Nike Cortez were okay for a year or two in the 90's but that's as far as it goes. Umbro is a Manchester company (yes, okay, it is owned by Nike; but still...) so it's a shame we will have American branding on our kits. American = uncool (sorry to all our American followers, but it's true!). American sports culture and sportswear is the epitome of cheesy and uncool. Never mind though, i suppose it's all about money isn't it?!

im in the same boat as everyone else, happy for the club to get more revenue but pessimistic about their designs, have these been confirmed yet? black on an arsenal kit, messing the barcelona's stripes and a tea towel?

Who's to say that Nike doesn't want to keep doing exactly what we are doing now as far as kits go. For all we know they might hire the current design team to do our kits and just throw a nike swoosh on there, it is the same company. The club seems to know what the fans want, and I don't see them getting something like this wrong. I'll save my opinions until I see what Nike give us.

Gutted! - Love the retro kits umbro have been making for us.. Think we have the best home shirt this season by a long way!

black on an arsenal kit
Rumour is there's black on our next home kit...
i see your point, it just looks unnecessarily thrown onto the arsenal one, its the main feature of our next kit (and it looks damn good too!)

Proper gutted. Think Umbro have done a great job and think a lot of the training gear, etc has looked top draw as well.

Think umbro have ran some great campaigns, and the fact we are probably their 'biggest fish', has helped, as we are their top priority.

But if we get more money from Nike, i suppose we can't complain, as it all helps the club, but i certainly won't be as interested in the whole of the clothing area once Nike take over.

I seem to remember that Melchester Rovers FC (of Roy of the Rovers fame) had Nike do their kit in the late 80's, look where it got them. It's the path to ruin I tell you. Roberto Mancini will be kidnapped on a pre season tour of Bolivia if we're not careful.
