Are we sponsoring the training gear like the rags?
We've had sponsors on our training gear since brother!

I think what he is getting at was a separate sponsor deal with training gear.

-- Fri May 04, 2012 10:15 am --

Me too!

I'll miss it that's for sure, but whatever the board thinks is best for the club I guess. Onwards and upwards.

I meant a different sponsor. The rags have Aon and then they have DHL for their training tops.

Nike own umbro = Nike make City kits by umbro with Umbro logo on them. City have umbro kits owned by Nike but made by umbro.!! Now if Nike want to change the logo from Umbro to Nike they can do as Umbro wont give a toss cos of the Nike ownership. Unless Nike make worse kits than Umbro which seems silly as Umbro and Nike are the same person so this means that Nike and Umbro and or Umbro and Nike Get to pay us money for wearing their Umbro/Nike kits.

Whats the problem.

Innit.

With the announcement of the Nike Deal, would this mean a possible preference towards players who have Nike Deals themselves...

I mean would the club/nike want a big Adidas posterboy involved with the club?

Just a thought....

For me the interesting part of this deal is the quote by City about R&D facilities. These don't strike me as something vital for football shirt deals over another company.

It could be our arrangement with Nike might have something to do with the Etihad campus, given the date this deal comes online and the estimated build time of the site?

Didn't we make use of Nike R&D facilities (training, medical etc.) on the tour of the US last year?

Perhaps a broader, strategic link up beckons?

The Nike campus.....got to be worth a bit...fook you Plattini

It's certainly something Umbro couldn't offer. A shame as their designs have been great.

Nike?! Ugh!! I hate Nike clothing, I feel quite proud wearing the Umbro badge on my clothing being from Manchester and all. Nike just remind me of chavs hanging about on street corners. Fukcing awful clothes.

That's what I think they are going to do. Just pay the umbro designers to keep up the good work (since they are on the same payroll and all). I think all Nike want is to keep the same thing going, just throw a little Swoosh on there instead.

Yep I will be cream crackered if it is skin tight.

didnt umbro fuck us off years ago when we got relegated?

This may have already been said but i couldn't see it. With Umbro being a subsidiary of Nike will we actually get any money from the change as we were signed up for ten years. I don't mean long term as obviously being with Nike will increase global marketability, I mean money paid by Nike to manufacture the kits.

Nope you are not too far wrong. Our contract was up they were not prepared to pay us any more money we signed a deal with Kappa instead.

Most powerful sporting company on the planet. Most powerful clothing company on the planet. Most powerful sport marketing company on the planet. We're now in the stable of teams for a sport they are desperately trying to push in America, hoping to unlock vast amounts of money that have previously been unavailable to footballing teams of Europe. Sound good too me!

Absolutely gutted about this. I know that Nike own Umbro, but still. I don't like their kits, and I like the fact that we're Umbro's biggest name, and the unique designs we get.

Such a shame.

I liked Umbro. Nike make shit basic shirts. It will be like playing Pro Evo it will be blue with no detail a nike badge and our crest. I have been impressed with Umbro also if its skin tight I wont be buying one. It might fit at the beggining of the season by the end of it it wont fit right due to the beer belly.
