Re: City Sign Nils Zander

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has made his first signing for next season - German youth international star Nils Zander.

City have struck an agreement with Schalke 04 for the 16-year-old left back who also plays for the national youth team.

Zander will head for City in the summer and be part of their youth set-up, but he is tipped to be knocking on the first-team door sooner rather than later - and is in the brink of the full Schalke side

He's a City player now so posts moved in to main forum as it's no longer transfer speculation :-)

16 year old fullback signed from Shalke.

Anyone know anything about him?

YES...His name and hair is similar to Ned Flanders *hmmm makes you think doesn't it*

One Ned Flanders
Theres only one Ned Flanders....

Germans are good at penalties.

We are likely to be getting further in cup competitions and could be involved in more penalty shoot-outs. Very astute move from Hughes.

Or maybe not...

..He was in the german team beat on pens in a youth cup by England last month, think he missed a pen too.

Don't mention the war.

Nils Zander

So City have started their summer spending by buying a 16yr old left back called Nils Zander from Shalke.
Dont know anything about him, but apparently he is a regular at German youth team and was on the verge of breaking into the first team at Schalke.

Does anyone know more about him than this?

Does that mean that Ball and Garrido are going?

Sorry, did have a quick look for a thread about this guy but didnt see one.

Have we really just signed Ned Flanders???
Is he going to bore the opposition to submission with his gospel singing and sermons?

This guy won't be back up to Bridge, we'll get another left back in if Garrido goes or at least a centre half who can play there

Definately one for the future ......... we may see him on the bench in a 2-3 years if he's as good as the press have indicated

haha. I've heard theres more top class kids on the way aswell. This one sounds a good en.

That wouldnt surprise me the under 16s are a young side this year. City will need a few foreign acquisitions; or a few raids on English sides youth players ,to put out an under 18 side next year that is comparable to this years side.

Why do we have to buy 16 year old left backs from Germany when we have a "top class, world class, universe class academy"?

I''d shove him in on Sunday, can't be any worse than Bridge.
