Nine years and four months for 3 lives

If they were determined not to wear seat belts, I'm not sure the warning alarm would convince them to.

I wear a seat belt all the time, if only to shut the bloody annoying "beep beep beep" up!
But the alarms are so bloody annoying that disabling them makes sense if you don't wear them.

I don't understand why anyone wouldn't wear a seatbelt. Are people that determined to be "cool".
A guy I knew in school wouldn't wear a helmet on his motorbike because he said it was "gay", you can probably guess how that ended up

Technically, it's nine years per victim, but the sentences are to run concurrently. So, yeah; in effect, what you said. Why they couldn't be consecutive sentences, which would be a more suitable sentence, is a mystery to me.

In this scenario I'm not sure 27 years behind bars does any good for society either. Just end up with a 46 year old who can offer society nothing.

Hard picking what the appropriate punishment/rehabilitation should be though.

Banned from driving for life, education courses on the impact of his actions whilst behind bars and then there should be a minimum number of hours community service every week for the rest of his life. I think all would be appropriate.
