Nirvana

"Man Who Sold The World" and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" from the Unplugged album are amazing. In Utero is complete brilliance.

Good to read lately that Dave Grohl, on meeting Husker Du mainman, Bob Mould 'apologised' for 'ripping his entire career' from the mighty Du.....rightly so, lol

They were my fave band at the time although Nevermind is overated..

The rawer original mixes from Nevernind were far better..

Enjoy this example of how Nevermind should have sounded..

'Grunge' for the lazy who never look further than the pop charts. Kurt was a fake cover act. Look further 'kids'

Nirvana were OK but hardly crucial to the real music lovers.

I don't mind Nirvana and has as already been said their Unpluuged album is a masterpiece although it has to be said it wasn't pure unplugged with Cobain insisting on running his acoustic guitar through his amplifier and effects pedals. However I also have to agree wholeheartedly with Banned Tosspot that look beyond Nirvana at the bands that really should have got some credit for that whole scene. Bands such as Malfunkshun, Mother Love Bone, Green River, Mudhoney, Ten Minute Warning, Skin Yard and the U Men to name but a few. Seattle was ignored by the American media and credit has to be paid to bands such as Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr who from a distance nurtured the grunge scene. I recently saw an excellent documentary on Kurt's last 48hours where he himself could never fathom out why Nirvana were catapulted to glory over other Seattle bands. It's fairly simple really, get yourself a hit single - Smells Like Teen Spirit - and the world's your oyster. That said, fair play to them for tapping into the mainstream charts but as Tosspot has shown above, look beyond Nirvana for some really top class Seattle bands.

Kurt Cobain quotes

"I'm not gay, although I wish I were just to piss off the homophobes,"

"I eventually became proud of the fact I was gay even though I wasn't,"

"No one dies a virgin, life fucks us all,"

“Hi, my name is Kurt Cobain, I'm homosexual, I'm a pagan, I'm a drug abuser, and I like to fuck pot-bellied pigs!”

“dreaming of the person you want to be is wasting the person you already are.”

Whats your fav song off the Unplugged album?

ooh a toughy.... far too many great tracks/performance s as each song suits a different mood.
"The Man Who Sold the World" (David Bowie) – lovely version.
"Pennyroyal Tea" – 3:40 just strikes something when i hear it,seems the whole LP has got to be heard each time.
"Something in the Way" – 4:01 just slow and simple.
"Plateau" (Curt Kirkwood) – 3:37 more upbeat, just love it.
"Oh, Me" (Kirkwood) – 3:26 love the lyrics.
"Lake of Fire" (Kirkwood) – 2:56 it`s got something raw in it`s sound.
