No action against Lukaku

I’m not sure why people are getting hung up on Lukaku’s act being one of petulance, or otherwise. As far as I am aware, only Dermot Gallagher, a former referee, has used this as the reason further action should not be taken. The FA hasn’t made a distinction between petulance and violent conduct.

Law 12 of The Laws of the Game says:

“VIOLENT CONDUCT

Violent conduct is when a player uses or attempts to use excessive force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball, or against a team-mate, team official, match official, spectator or any other person, regardless of whether contact is made.

In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.”

I assume the FA Review Panel deemed that Lukaku acted with negligible force, and that is why he wasn’t sanctioned.

You can’t really argue with this, as Lukaku hardly made contact with the Brighton player, and he didn’t seem to even notice the attempt from Lukaku. It will be interesting to see how the FA deal with similar incidents that don’t involve a United player though.

Aguero didn't make any contact with Reid of West Ham last season and he got a 3 match ban, so there's your answer as how the FA deal with these incidents which don't involve A Rag player

I thought them charging Lukaku would be a sign that the FA was done kissing the scum’s ass and that it would end the conspiracy theories. Instead they’ve reinforced them. City players damn well be careful heading g into the derby while scummers know they can get away with murder.

Tierney Wednesday (edited for right day!) (4th PL match this season, highest yellow card rate - only 19th PL match in total), Dean vs WHU. No pressure....

Corruption at it’s finest and in-yer-face blatant too. Commercial pressures of upcoming fixtures anyone? Pandering to the shite from Stretford has reduced our beloved game to a fucking farce.

The FA are a bunch of crooked, shady, dirty, low-down, bent, dodgy as fuck wankers.

At least publish the list of potential panel members at the beginning of the season & ensure individuals are not connected as former employees of a respective club being discussed.

Negligible force is only mentioned in the paragraph that deals with the use of hands or arms to the face or head. The first section is what pertains to this incident.
Also, as far as the Brighton player didn't even notice the attempt, he grabbed his balls with both hands as soon as it happened.

I don't think that follows.

The referral is made, with the question of "would you have sent him off for this?" I don't know how they make the decision to refer, but it was referred which suggests that that part of the system worked ok.

Edit: And first they have to wait for the ref's report to note that he didn't see the incident fully.

Are we not saying the same thing, a referral was made then with every benefit of hindsight chose to apparently ignore the rule book when viewing the evidence.

Do as I say not do as I do type of attitude when it comes to the FA's disciplinary procedure.

I see it includes the Thompson twins.

Who were the 3 man panel? That should be made public because that decision is a disgrace and actions like lukaku’s have no place in the game. If a panel isn’t going to challenge that but will challenge a dive then it’s a fucking jokeshop

Graham poll in his mail column praised the Brighton player for not reacting to this assault ,instead of going down like a Rooney or an Ashley young.
If he had grabbed Lukaku’s balls instead of his own you can be sure that would have been reviewed (many times over) and would have resulted in a ban and possibly execution.
