Bit harsh - every single word these guys say is scrutinised and analysed, those who have English as a first language trip up every now and then

So it's the opposite, he'd be stupid not to have an interpreter, especially with what's just happened

Absolutely.

We were talking about this on Saturday, I am fully convinced he can speak English well, but chooses not to, so he doesn't have to put up with constant media questions.

Playing it clever I reckon.

Or he's just thick.

I've heard him interviewed after a game a season or do ago. I think he'd missed s penalty and the interviewer was asking him about it. His English seemed fine enough to communicate then. Maybe not the most fluent but understandable.

I am sure that I have seen at least one interview with Carlos speaking in English. He is taking the piss.

As for thick - I know that Gazza could speak some Italian.

It may also be a matter of confidence.

Many Britons lack confidence when trying to speak French of German and are actually better than they think.

This may also be the case with Carlos.

Actually think he was being very smart there with the legal issues, his case is built on his ignorance of the language, 100% certain he doesn't need those basc questions repeated back to him in spanish.
