Rammyblues said:Might be wrong but last time this happened between Everton and Liverpool they (Uefa) allowed Liverpool in via a qualifying round and if memory serve me right they said that would be the last time they would do that. So if Spuds won CL for argument and they finished fifth IMO it is for the Prem League/FA to decide whether City or Spuds go in CL next season.
Everton got fourth place and thus european football. Liverpool came 5th but won UCL. They allowed Liverpool to enter and thus defend their title. 5 English teams were entered that year. They have now changed the rules so only 4 teams from one nation can enter. so if that situation arises again the winners would get the place at the expense of fourth place. I'm pretty sure that they made it a rule that the defending team always got entry. Therefore the F.A wouldn't decide. If spuds win they will be in the UCL next year at the expense of City (presuming City finished 4th and spuds 5th).
