No Yaya in the team...

Here's my original post

Fair dos. It's interesting if you look at the stats ( before anyone starts I know they're not the be all and end all ), he made the same amount of successful tackles, interceptions and clearances as Fernandinho.

I think he gets singled out sometimes when our whole team performance hasn't been good enough. However, i'm kind of braced for us to see a whole new level of disinterest from Toure now that it's been announced Pep's coming in. I might be horribly underestimating his level of professionalism, but I've seen enough from him over the years to feel confident in the assertion he's a bit of a lunatic, who doesn't take kindly at all to being disrespected in any way. It also doesn't take much (or anything at all) for him to feel disrespected. The sense of excitement and optimism around the club for an era he's unlikely to be part of might be enough for the toys to fly out of the pram. I hope we have we're prepared for that and have a plan B in place!

We went from 3 in midfield at villa.Delphi and 2fernandos, to 1 at Sunderland. They put an extra man in midfield to boss it. Simple tactics by big Sam, yet we didn't adapt.

We play our way, and never take into account the opposition. Yaya should be coming on late in games, in the dying embers, when opposition are tired.

We did adapt, how many times did you see Kirchoff running with the ball from deep in the second half? Very few in comparison to the last 15 of the first, why? Because we adapted.

I agree apart from the higher up the pitch bit. What happened when we pushed him further up last night? He was completely ineffective, a number of our attacks broke down because of him and at the same time we lost all composure when trying to play the ball out from the back because we didn't have Yaya there to act as the conduit.

For me what should've happened when Fernando came on is Fernandinho should've been pushed further up with Yaya left deeper to play the role he's best suited to.

Pellegrini mainly plays 4-2-2-2 even when people think we are playing 4231 etc, it still ends up with someone effectively playing as a 2nd striker behind/around Aguero, the difference being, that this season he has tended to mainly use a midfielder or Sterling in that role. So rather than change shape, he put Yaya there & he stank the place out.

I agree he would have been better played deeper but he would have been better still, watching from the stand.

You think he was poor first half when playing his best position?

His stamina is shot, his fitness is poor, commitment non existent. People run off him for fun. Can't sprint forward anymore. Apart from that he is as good as you think.

Awful imo.

Missing simple, obvious passes & dicking about trying to beat players, slowing down or simply destroying our forward momentum, completely absent when we lost the ball, basically inviting Sunderland into the game.

His big moment when he skipped a couple of challenges & belted a shot over the bar, should have been a simple 1-2 with Iheanacho to put the kid in for a goal, dreadful greedy rubbish. Silva was almost as bad, it has to be said & there was a shout for taking either off, but of course it was always going to be the kid who had to go, because he is a weakness to the team when nobody will ever give him a return pass & no point him being there.

Second half Silva showed he will roll his sleeves up & fight even if he's playing shit, Yaya showed he will down tools & sulk if someone gets stuck into him & couldn't be arsed putting 100% into running on the counter attack, so just gave the ball away either being caught or just by lazy half arsed passing.

The difference between us & a Barca or Real or Bayern, is that if they had a player performing like Yaya, we would just see him in cameo appearences from now on & a wave goodbye. We start him.
