WORLD Cup winner Nobby Stiles was in hospital yesterday after suffering a stroke.

The 1966 England hero - famous for his toothless smile and ferocious tackles - collapsed earlier this week after being unwell for months. Ex-Man United midfielder Nobby, 68, has been forced to cancel a public appearance today at a pub in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire.

Now an entertaining after-dinner speaker, he was due to meet fans ahead of the England game. A pal said: "It's very sad."

All rivalries aside sad news, hope he recovers, loved his dancing around the pitch following our victory over Germany.

Very minor according to the beeb. But then again i'd rather not have one.

Nobby was the head coach of the scum's youth training at the cliff when I was there as a young lad - he's an excellent bloke so sad news.
