West ham have bid £18m for andy carroll , i expect liverpool to reject it

Why don't they bid £10m for Adebayor ?

At least he had better record and more experience.

Wages of course. If we didn't pay stupid wages to most players we'd get bigger transfer fees for the ones we don't want and players like Bridge and Santa Cruz would have found new clubs long ago. I hope City, as the brand name grows, find a way to sanitize the wages at the club. There's no reason a player of Adam Johnson's ability and level needs to earn more than nearly the entire Spurs squad does for example.

I think the club needs to restructure the players wages, for example

Lets say Ade wants 170 k a week, it can be spilt to two or 3 parts

70 k as a basic salary
Another 50 K if he participate in any match ( Even if he was selected for the bench )
and another 40 K based on the player performance.

I remember few years back, John Rise wages were published somehow and it was full of bonuses and add ons.

shouldnt it be like that for every football contract? i know thats the way it is for a lot of american football players contracts where theres guaranteed money and then a ton of other stuff based on whether he shows up to offseason workouts / stat related accomplishments / starting games etc etc.

i'd be kinda surprised if most if not all players contracts were like this, as its a way to protect the club / franchise in case of a players injury/off the field issue/or if they just act like a general **** in regards to football as is the case with adebayor

Adebayor has two years left on his contract. Lets presume he's on £200k a week (I'm positive it's much, much less than that), he'll earn around £20m in wages over the rest of his contract.

So £5m transfer fee and £20m wages is no different to £15m transfer fee and £10m in wages (£100k a week). Personally I think he's easily worth £15m transfer fee and £100k a week wages when you compare to alternatives.

Aston Villa have signed Vlaar, who's a solid CB. A bit shit of him to do that a few days before his team plays in the Champions League qualifying round as he was captain, but the move is understandable.

Will also have news of a significant development in Arsene Wenger's efforts to reinforce his Arsenal squad later today. #AFC

Please let it not be Nuri Sahin or Santi Cazorla..
