How did they get on
Ah so close....

Pretty even game first half, Curzon much the better team in the second half and had some good chances. Looked out on there feet at the start of Extra time but finished the game the stronger and again some great chances, including one from Mols with about 2 mins to go in ET that he put over from about 6 yards when easier to score.

So to pens and it wasn't to be. After Madrid last week and now this (plus United beating Coventry on Sunday), I'm done with shoot outs for a while... Curzon keeper saved the first pen but couldn't take advantage as Curzon's first was then saved. another miss with Curzon's 4th (saved) and Chorley won 4-2 and go through to face Brackley Town on Sunday in the semis.

Curzon should have won but as i said in my previous post, to even get tot the play offs was a huge achievement, hopefully they can go again next season.

Should mention, good crowd last night at Chorley, over 2,000 inc over 200 from Curzon

My mate follows The Nash and I look out for their results. Was following the proceedings via their twitter account. Disappointed they didn’t go through….

A few big local games on Tuesday night in the semi-final playoffs. Both are one-off games that have to be settled on the night, pens if needed.

In the NW Counties, it’s Bury vs Charnock Richard at Gigg Lane. The away team made an amazing run in the last few weeks of the season, clearing out a massive fixture backlog and included winning all four games they played in the final week of the season. Two of them on consecutive days. On the other hand, Bury had a shaky (see what I did there) end to the season. Don’t be surprised if there’s a surprise result in that game.

The other game is Wythenshawe Town vs Padiham. The home team looking to go up alongside their near neighbours and league winners, Wythenshawe FC, formerly Amateurs.

In the NPL, it’s Macclesfield vs Worksop at the Moss Rose. Worksop come into this one in good form and are a direct, physical side who can give anyone a game. A bit like with Bury, this is far from a foregone conclusion for Macc and I fancy an upset.

The winners of that one will face either Marine or Warrington Rylands.

Well, my post above shows why I don’t gamble on sports. Both Bury and Macc made it through.
Macc now face Marine at home on Monday for a spot alongside NPL champions Radcliffe in the National League North next season. Should be a good ‘un.
In the NWCFL playoff final, for a place in the NPL First Division next season, Bury go to Wythenshawe Town on Saturday. Some quality handbags on social media right now. The Shakers are accusing the home team of arbitrarily reducing their away allocation from 700 to just 200 tickets, while Wythy are, in turn, accusing Bury of trying to bully them into a neutral venue for the game. Are the home team shithousing? Are Bury trying to throw their weight around? I’ve no idea, but it should make for a fun atmosphere on the day.

Those Bury jokers ‘suggest’ that Wythy should hand over 50% of the capacity of the ground to them and then start crying that they’ve reduced the allocation when they tell them to get fucked and be happy with 200.

Bit gutted that City are playing Saturday aswell. Would have been a good laugh down there.

Strange goings-on at Macc, as they go full Swales-era City.

Partway through last season, they sack the manager and poach the boss from their nearest playoff rivals (Radcliffe are walking the league). With a completely inherited squad, he gets them to the FA Trophy semifinal and second place in the league, losing the playoff final. Nevertheless, it seems the squad and the fans all really like the manager, plans are made and they’re well-set to piss the league next season. Today, Macc sack him. No-one can believe it.

Later in the day, they then say that Robbie Savage, their Director of Football, is so brilliant, he is being courted by other clubs. Therefore, to keep him at Macc, they’ve sacked the manager and given Savage the job along with a very solemn and carefully-worded statement that he will be judged ‘solely on results’. Get the popcorn ready.

Doesn't Savage have some financial stake in Macc ?
Savage doesn't have the patience, ability or man-management skills to successfully coach a football team.
It will be just like Alan Ball, Savage demanding the players to show him their medals ?
Give it 8 games before there is a players mutiny ?

I suspect Savage will be making too much from his media commitments to do it permanently.
Macc have spent big after losing out to Marine, bringing in players from higher divisions, so no doubt will have another manager by the time the season kick off.
