Why doesn't nord VPN work? I'm in fuerteventura at the minute and still can't get on Skybet or use Sky go or get on certain websites (nothing dodgy, all the porn sites are fine) even though I'm using a VPN, feel a bit cheated really as the lads on the bluemoon podcast were saying how great it was or am I doing something wrong. It only has about 4 uk servers to connect to or is there more?

I'm just trying the free version of ProtonVPN myself but from what I've been reading, Sky et al can block anyone using VPN services from getting around the regional restrictions. It looks a bit hit and miss depending on what you're trying to access.

Have you tried a different UK server? (presuming you can choose)

Some companies block vpn ip's from using their services as Centurions notes. I would think big gambling sites do this. Nord is a big vpn company so their ip's would get blocked pretty quick. There are probably laws about allowing people from outside the UK using UK betting sites so they have to block them.

I live in Spain but use a superb UK based IPTV provider who has simply never mentioned vpn to me.

Do I need a VPN?

This is correct.

I use controld on the full control plan. Rather than changing your ip it’s your dns.

I don’t know the rules here so I will say it lets you seem like you are in the uk for your skygo when in Spain etc once set up. Or vice versa.

It’s not hard to use but it takes some setting up using a control panel on the site, once set up all your devices can be set to different country’s for different apps. My shield thinks it’s in the uk for most, and abroad for others

Do these VPNs work on Smart TVs?
The VPN would have to be installed on the router obviously but otherwise, yes. In fact if it's installed on the router then everything goes through the VPN. My knowledge pretty much ends there BTW so your inevitable follow up question will need to answered by someone else :)

Edit: in fact, https://nordvpn.com/blog/setup-vpn-router/

If you just download the Nord app onto a Smart TV is that enough? Or does it need to be installed “on” the router?
