Everyone bemoans the modern media and yet in its own way it will act as a limiter on the conduct of those leaders who have their finger on the nuclear button.

Harry Truman did not have to consider, in any meaningful way, how being the first human being to authorise the detonation of a nuclear device in the name of war, would impact on his rating, or for that matter, his legacy.

Unless global domination is the cards, anyone initiating the first strike knows that he (or she) risks gong down in history alongside Hitler and Stalin as a monster. Their families name would be tarnished. Not a legacy anyone would aspire to. That must concentrate the minds of those that seek to rule us more than we probably realise.

I reckon things would have to that far, far worse before any such move would even be contemplated. Even by a fat, squat sociopath.

Once folk have a taste for power they tend to do as little as possible to give it up. Nuclear war has the capacity to throw up a few unknown variables into the equation. Folk in power don't like that.

The problem with north Korea is they don't have a snowballs chance in hell at hitting us(USA) with a missile nuclear or otherwise anytime soon unless someone aided them(China/Russia). If they so much as do anything to south Korea or any of our other Asian allies in the region they have another thing coming. Obama isn't bush when it comes to this stuff but he won't sit idly by. We'll take NK seriously but also understand the fact that if they try and get into anything we could end their existence real quick

Yeah but this isn't the middle ages where armies march out on a field to face each other. War is won by who has the best toys now and the US could destroy most of N Korea from the white house. China is the key player here as if they get involved then shit really will start to hit the fan.

Maybe not. They've irked China too and so they're a bit pissed with N Korea's childish behaviour.

I believe the Yanks sent over two stealth bombers to drop a couple of reminders a couple of miles from their border as well.

Bit like being flicked in the ear and being told to sit sown, I guess!
