North Stand Construction Discussion

How would they have gone about removing the redundant steel masts? If they tried to lift them out due to them being angled the bottom part would have just swung down and collided with the structure, I suppose the only way was to cut them down into manageable pieces?

They have been cutting them down. You can see the marked cut lines on it in the latest video, as well as tension to stop it moving while being cut, monitoring sensors for movement, and holes/hook plates for lifitng the pieces out with the crane. Would be great to see it in action but seems a bit of a lottery timing it.

Edit, just seen jrb's post, looks like it is all done now.

RIP the original supports.

You were there in the beginning,
You held us up during bad times,
and you lived to offer your support during the years of Guardiola.

Yea it is a fairly significant milestone change to the fundamental original design of it.

Now that this is done though, the next while will probably feel fairly 'mundane'. There will be steady progress but in comparison to building up to this transfer, pretty uneventful.

The next significant things to happen will be the lifting of the overhang VIP area all in one go, and maybe the conclusion of the mock-up.
