North Stand Construction Discussion

I’ve just rang the North stand relocation help line. I was on hold for 15 minutes. The automated message kept on stating high amount of volume calls.

A pint of Asahi with a season ticket discount is £5,22. So City are 22p down, without free food and all the other things City are putting on.

I know I had a reputation as a moaner ;-), but I can’t believe people are moaning about a £5 ticket charge for one of the biggest events many of us have been waiting for and discussing for YEARS.
Ah… but JRB you are assuming your free drink is a pint ! Check the small print . When Co Op Live did same due to their delayed opening their free drink was a small can of Grolsch or similar and the snack was a small bag of nuts!

With the North Stand nearing completion, taking the attendance up to 61000, and the COOP live holding 23000, and Mamma Mia Live coming up shortly, with 600 people able to attend

That would be 84600 coming into the Ehihad Campus at one time if City were playing at home, and there was a show on at COOP live and Mamma Mia Live

But no improvement in transport

What is the best way forward?

Upgraded trams with more carriages

Upgraded Bus services from the campus

Upgrading the station at Ashburys to handle more fans

Using the railway line that sits next to the ground to run shuttle trains that link up with park & rides that could be built away from the stadium, a lot of people use the park & ride at Aston West to visit the COOP live

From Bee Network website:

  • Double Trams: TfGM has increased the use of double-unit trams on these routes to boost capacity for matchdays and major concerts.
  • Infrastructure Turnback: A major project is underway to build "turnback" infrastructure near Etihad Campus and Velopark. This will allow trams to turn around quickly at the stadium, enabling high-frequency shuttle services without sending every tram all the way to Ashton. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Always look on the bright side of life!

Honestly, if someone stood in the street handing out £20 notes to passers by it wouldn’t be long before someone would start moaning and there’d be a campaign to get it stopped.
