My reference model isn't quite upto date but there is a small slab edge cantilever at level 2 which then steps out further at Level 03, on the Hotel side we have those beams doing all of the work where on the commercial side its just those corbels one way and beams the other...
that's a hell of a moment on the lower column, i'd have run a beam back to the next column, particularly as its just soffit space and they've had to add a steel beam in here as secondary support

Is there a reason for this complex cantilever/overhang other than being architecturally interesting?

On the gable ends, where the screens are, it makes a feature of those walls.

However on the commercial building back/side bit, not sure it is that beneficial. Wonder how many people have even noticed it so far.
