North Stand Construction Discussion

Is there any particular reason that the fishplate(s) towards the top of the skybar framework seem to have multi-coloured bolts connecting them? I thought it may have been an artifact of the camera processing at first but it only seems to be there?

Good spot. They look like hand grip toppers, presumably to get them started by hand for speed, before the cap is removed to tighten with a tool. If so, they'd use whatever colour they come in from whatever they have lying about. Or the ebay order didn't match the description :).

I would like to think there was something more technical to it like the force on each bolt (which they Will know btw), or the order the tune needs played in etc, but think it is something as basic as seeing different coloured scaffolding node covers.

If anyone else knows or guesses otherwise please chip in.

Like I said yesterday, the last set of pictures are mostly construction workers in the cherry pickers working on the steel structure. The pictures include the ends of the steel structure joining the stand.

My next set of pictures will be in 4 weeks time when the construction site closes for Christmas. Hopefully there will be a few changes by then, like glazing going in on the hotel, etc.

The cherry picker pictures are in no particular order.

Vertigo inducing. How do people even go up on those cherry pickers? What did they do before they existed when erecting steel at heights? There are Empire State Building clips of erecting steel that I cannot watch. Not the same scale or scenario but equally as unwatchable.

The scale of the whole North Stand development is something to behold.

They went up on rope chairs and pulled themselves up.

They went up riding the steel then slid down the columns after fixing the piece they rode upon

I wouldn't have a clue. As MCC are also involved with the plans for the Collar site, it could be anything.

Stating the obvious. It might leisure still, commercial, tech, education, etc. Whatever it is, it will create jobs. It might be part housing, towers, apartment blocks, etc

You never know with City. That's why it's so exciting.

What it won't be is a MacDonald's and a KFC drive-through, or a bog standard retail park.is
Forgive my ignorance but
Is there a basic plan showing the actual boundaries of the collar site ??

The large parcel of land opposite the East stand, and to the right of the footbridge. The small parcel of land on the other side of the footbridge next to the away coach park can be included as well. (but I don’t include that, myself) Most of the Collar site is now a temporary car park for match days.

It’s an old aerial picture, so you now have to factor in the North stand and hotel expansion.(instead of City Square, shown in the picture) The hotel expansion slightly eats into the Collar site, but not by very much. There’s more information about the Collar site in this thread. The thread is 1522 pages long. https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/...um-and-collar-site-development-thread.328878/

The adjoining land around the stadium is frequently called the Collar Site. This site was the selected location over sites in London and Blackpool for the Supercasino in 2007 – but the proposal was later abandoned amid controversy over the regeneration benefits. The Collar Site is on what was once Bradford Colliery.

It would be good, some how, to get a similar aerial shot when the North stand expansion and hotel are completed.

I will put in an application to send the drone up 500m , might just about get it all in if i put a wide angle filter on.
Or i might try a load of lower images and stitch them together.
either way it should be perfectly possible
