North Stand Construction Discussion

From that latest video, you can see the steelwork has just started around the support on the left.

Once the fourth crane is finished, we should see a lot of progress of the next few months.

It's always great to see the initial groundworks coming to an end and the vertical steel start flying up. Looks like that's the case for the construction nearest the existing North stand and once this last crane is erected we should see some real progress over the next few weeks.

The speed of the initial erection process always blows my mind

It is always the same, with perception. For ages and ages, nothing seems to happen. Then once the steelwork starts all of a sudden, it looks like it has just sprung up in no time. Then again nothing seems to happen for a while, after the bulk is up. Then the scaffolding drops and people go, that came out of nowhere.

With this one, they have been on site for just under 11 months now! But the last couple of weeks the steel going up has made people think the early phase is going fast. Once it tops out it will likely feel long again.

The thing here is there will likely always be something interesting happening, with so many complex parts to connect and replace. I also wouldn't be surprised if this one avoided scaffolding (at least above the podium level) as the externals seem to lend themselves to fully unitised installation straight off the cranes.

Random thought, wonder if they have done a whistling analysis on the sails.
