North Stand Construction Discussion

I didn’t mean a few hours to lift it and to fix it into place. What I should have posted, it will take most of Monday to lift it and to fix it into place. I’ve corrected it and updated it. :-)

On a serious note. Unfortunately I won’t be able to get to the Etihad on Monday, so if anyone can go down and get some pictures and/or a video of the lift, that would be great. :-)

Hopefully City will video it and post a timelapse video on the OS? I’ll keep on checking Sisk, Linkedin, just in case they video it and post it?
Thanks for all the pictures and the heads up when the lift will take place.
Looks like an early start for me on Monday morning

I think the deep bits of steel along the ground are the floor beams that will connect between the bridge and the top of the stand terracing as currently built. Looks like they have prepared them all in advance.

Hi Everyone,

I've been covering the Etihad Expansion of the North Stand since it started, getting to the ground when I can with weather permitting and after work hours. Was there today and ran out of battery trying to cover the new crane that will lift the next piece of the stand. My video is here hopefully my videos along with CP Overview will serve the fans well in seeing the transformation of the North stand, the hotel, offices and fan plaza. It's an exciting project and I enjoy showing it to you. We are all still learning. I have just got past 2million views on my channel which is great and always take stills were I can at the end of the video for fans to look back at for reference. Hope you watch the videos and I will take creative criticism and hopefully show you good content on what is an exciting upgrade to the stadium. Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Cheers SS Skies

I saw your vlog last night, maybe they lifted it in place when you left because it looked like it was imminent. If not I think it'll get lifted today as there's not as many workers on site to avoid a possible near miss or accident.

You and @cpoverview do a good job which is appreciated, keep up the good work guys.

I must have skipped a few pages as it seems to have rocketed up overnight. I presume when the Sky Bridge is up and connected they'll crack on with the office block? Or is it the new roof first and then the office block?

I may be wrong but I think the steelwork and insitu concrete works are by 2 different subcontractors , so presumably work will continue on both

I'll nip down today just to double check the lift isn't today. I was told 100% it was Monday and would begin at 6:30 am. That was from the person who seemed to be in charge of erecting the crane. He had a different coloured high viz on, and he was in charge of and directing the other crane workers

I gestured to him to come over through the gate, he kindly did, I explained who I was, what I was doing, and asked him when the lift would be taking place.

For the drone lads tomorrow it will all be about timing. I'm guessing the critical parts of the lift are filming the 'start of the lift', and the 'attachment', either side of maneuvering it into place. It's going to be a long day chaps. :-)

I assume the two orange straps will be attached to the tower cranes either side of the towers and the mobile crane will be attached centrally (??) to adjust the position of the girder ??
