North Stand Construction Discussion

Apologies if this has already been posted, but the lack of organisation around the crowd flow in the area directly by the construction site, and opposite the tram exit is an accident waiting to happen.

Before the game there was a line of ineffective stewards milling around, but people from both directions rushing to get past. Common sense would have been for the stewards to direct the crowds to different sides of the pathway depending on which direction they were going. Instead of letting them meet head on and cause a crush, as was happening.

Even worse that afternoon the game the same stretch had no presence from any stewards, it was dark, the path was full of puddles people were walking round to avoid and with no directions for the crowds it ended up one big sea of people.

These issues have been there all season, but last night was the worst I've seen it. Hopefully no one got hurt.

Have you contacted the club? This needs reporting, and if you do so and there is no action then they become even more liable, as you say there is some simple measures they can put in place

To be honest and at times the stewarding actually causes more of a hazard due to the total lack of organisation and then standing and occupying space in the middle of the flow of people…….it is a pointless exercise having loads of stewards but none actually doing anything to improve the situation.

It would be interesting to know how they are supervised to a a changing environment as it seemed like the rain completely surprised and outwitted the team!! As an example in an emergency situation how would they respond!!!

I spoke to a steward about it a few weeks ago and he looked at me as if I had two heads. Thanks for the email address though, I will follow up on that.

There is no reason whatsoever for me to contribute to this but I do. I wrote to City to explain that I come from the Asda side of the ground but my designated access is on the other side of the work. I asked if I could have the option of an entrance on the Asda side so I didn’t have to contribute to the congestion.

They wrote back not referencing my point at all and merely confirmed my entrance is X!

I walk round the concourse at the end to avoid it.

Not surprised, there are some good stewards but their only option is to raise at the de-brief then it gets lost If you want to take it further Manchester City Council would be the option Although I couldn't find a contact the page below is pretty useless
