North Stand Construction Discussion

I'd completely forgotten about that. Went in there after a stadium tour back in 2006/07 iirc. It was decent in there. Will be good to have more going on in the area, although it will still need to develop further to become the "destination" envisaged and help control the flow of people getting to/from the match.
One of the potential (safety/segregation) benefits of shifting away fans down to ESL110/111/SSL1 & making SSL3/2 all City would be to designate the ASDA tram stop as the pre match alighting point for away fans.

By so doing it keeps away fans from the Fan Zone and the E & W stand receptions.

If City open the gates at the top of the coach park ( junction of ATW/ANR, proximate to the Nexon Bridge), away fans have only 150 metres to walk to be in their secure zone.

Additionally, City could erect a PermaTent beer hall and a few food trucks and fleece the bastards pre match.

Security, Segregation, Safety, improved AND increased revenue !!

Are you there Danny ??

Is this extension the limit of the stadiums design layout?

If we wanted to make it bigger, would we now be able to?

It was recently said by someone at the club that it would be extremely difficult to do. I genuinely wouldn’t expect any further expansion for a long long time.

Keep in mind the new north stand will open 10 years+ after the new south stand. It will be longer before the sides are even considered in my view, and who knows, a new stadium might even be a consideration first.

I think both ES and CB stands expansion costs would be that high they’d probably just go with a new stadium.

I think it all depends what the growth is like in the next ten years.

If the corners can be joined and filled in, cost v returns permitting, I think a 65,000 capacity is doable and finite for the Etihad stadium and City.
