North Stand Construction Discussion

If there were any prospects of a new stadium within the next 25-30 years, there is no way the owners would be investing so much on the existing stadium. So it may be of interest to the younger fans, but those of us in St Peter’s Close just want to live long enough to see the new development completed.
St Peter's Close....like it !!

There is a recurring issue with the use of language in the posts, and what it implies. There will have been options looked at for a variety of undertakings. That doesn't mean 'plans exist', in the oven-ready way it is described.

That level of undertaking doesn't get done without the public knowing about it or get kept in a drawer somewhere that a select few can see and describe. Just fwiw.

The plans I presume for a new stadium was probably well before the south stand extension then they decided not to go with the a new stadium for some reason...

Exactly. They ain’t building the Co-Op, the hotel and the NS and all the connected features within if they had any plans to move to a new stadium in the next 25 years +.

They don't need to enclose the spirals, to extend back and up. they just need to remove and replace the entire roof on either side. 'Just'.
Not so.

23000 additional seats will be provided for....11500 each side/corners.

4000 MORE than are being added in the entire NS extension !!

I believe bigger isn't always best.
And if something is to big (or too small) , then it can lead to a lot of complications and disappointment.

Yes, you want it big enough so that on big nights with high volume, you've enough room to accommodate the higher demand.

However, you also want it small enough that on the quieter nights with less demand, the intimacy and connection isn't lost.

Is this a conversation you had with your wife?

Yeah maybe in another 10 years if demand was high they might consider extending the ground again with more hotels more fan zones to get the capacity up to 75k

OK.....but I haven't seen anyone put a timeline on anything.

FWIW....miles of land and hundreds of buildings, (homes, hotels offices
), built 25 years ago on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai are being demolished for new projects/developments.

I was wondering why the last blocks in the third tiers at the North Stand end, aren’t being extended during this expansion, as they did when the South Stand was expanded.
Would add around 500 more seats?!

I went down to the Etihad this Afternoon.

These pictures are from my camera.

I'll sort through the pictures on the on my camera phone.

There's no point in posted similar pictures twice.

It probably has been mentioned? I didn't notice it watching the video.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but 1 of the cranes has been taken down.
Far left crane partly dismantled in CP Overview's video.

I saw a section of of the crane being loaded onto a lorry to be taken away.

Agreed.

SSL3 & NSL2 all standing City under the acoustic roof will do for me.

An 11 inch cock is a nightmare to handle, control and package !!
