North Stand Construction Discussion

I'm just wondering. What's the point of having an open event for a handful of people, if nobody is allowed to share what was seen or said? It doesn't too 'open' to me. It would have great for us all to see some new images of the build & learn some things about the project. Especially as the info from the club about the build has been practically zero.

Looks as though the support for the remaining terracing is being built from blockwork, with what looks like joist hangers / connectors on the side.

Just to be clear, did Sisk say you couldn’t share any images & videos but were okay to share what was discussed? Or, was it that you couldn’t share anything?
CP seems to have taken it as just images/videos. Which woukd make sense. A couple seem to suggest anything from the event, which sounds a but harsh. But I respect people's own judgement there.

They were clear in saying that everything about the project was NDA, they didn't say for example that the answers to the questions that were asked were not to be repeated but, they did say during individual chats that not to repeat anything specific. So, from my point of view I won't share anything in respect to them and also as a mark of respect for their openness and honesty. Some of the question specially around timing they didn't answer and a few they said you need to ask the club There wasn't a lot to share though so no big secrets

Why do you think that is? Seems the only place they have done that in, recon it is to do with ability to manoeuvre/connect steel around the existing corners, or the way they plan to dismantle them?

The 10 questions I had written down, and what I wrote down during the presentation have been forwarded to City. Sisk are waiting on an OK from the club. The whole event is pretty much NDA'd.

TBH I can't really remember the specific and interesting details of the presentation.

There was an amazing North stand construction sequence animation video that lasted over 2 minutes.
Tease :(

Speaking for myself here, but I am happier to see common courtesy among people, than I am to see photos and information from the event. I.e if people were asked not to share, whether there is any real recourse in stopping it or not, I'm glad to see them not sharing even just as a mark of respect and staying true to their own word. Fair is fair.
I wish there was more of that in life in general, everytime you see anything happening in real life or on the news, 90% of people there are filming it on their phones.

Seems strange doesn’t it? You’d think a simple steel frame would be easier given the way it’s been built so far. Zooming in a bit, it’s reinforced concrete not blockwork. The shape of the tunnel and the area to be used for disabled supporters can be picked out. It definitely matches the artists impression.

See gordyola's response, which maybe inadvertently shows how easily things might run away with themselves online, and lead to misplaced speculation and get amplified by social media etc.

In some ways, damned if they do damned if they don't, Sisk.

If they don't try discourage everything discussed at the events being shared, then they'd likely be far less open about things, more cagey in discussions, and generally guarded. Then the people attending the events suffer and come away thinking it wasn't very open.

If they do suggest people don't share, but then openly discuss and engage as it sounds they have, then others think why all so secretive.

As I said, I don't think they will come after anyone, and I don't think they would necessarily be bothered with people sharing certain gemeric discussions etc. But I'm more than happy to respect however people apply that.

They will also know fine well people attending will discuss it with close friends and family, in the pub, in person etc. Maybe even show images in person in private chats etc. Their issue is more likely to be it being put on general social media and snowballing out of control from there.

What is wrong with the Club that they don't want to keep us up to date with the progress of the North Stand development?

We keep getting useless training videos, surely regular updates on the stand would be more interesting.
That's a perfectly valid but probably separate discussion from the open day event.

Agree, PR gold mine here that both have been sitting on. So many iconic moments they could have milked, and even distracted from some of our usual off pitch and now on pitch too headlines.

Think it’s a piece of precast to be honest saw it on either of the videos next to the lorry with the roof piece:-)

100% this. I had a contact at Laing O'Rourke. I had a bit of a heads up on the development but they would have most certainly been fired had I leaked it. Similarly, I know which firm and how much the development has been valued, but I won't be saying anything on here.
My grandad used to say to me, "when everything is gone, the only thing a man has is his word." This has always stuck with me.
