North Stand Construction Discussion

Maybe after consultating the fans they will remove the padding off the 648 seats, and offset it by changing 1000 seats in the east/west stands to hospitality instead. And have everyone dancing round the tables etc.
I posted in jest, but hope you're right my friend. Sadly, my dancing round tables days are a distant memory...

That's not how it works. Specs don't override standards. And that's not what is approved either. They will build it to the maximum capacity, the club (or any operator) may choose to limit it thereafter, but it has to meet the standards, which define the occupancy. Which will always be there.
Of course standards overrule specs, but specs will most often be more onerous than standards. This is almost always the case for ventilation as an example.

Sure, where they are more onerous. They can't be less though. That is just a fact.

The occupancy of that space is and always will be circa 600 (can tell you exact figure tomorrow if needed). The fire escapes, the toilets, the space and services all have to and do support that. It is the only way it gets approved.

I can only go off what the info we've priced against which is 300, that would be a fairly big discrepancy.

What do you mean by priced though. Never known a contractor to price per person (user). They price by square meterage, materials, time, etc. Ventilation and servicing is worked out by cubic volume. Only perhaps furniture could be slightly relevant, but even then that is by item, not by person.

Either way, that doesn't change the occupancy capacity of the space, or my initial point about its flexibility.

And why would the club want to size a bar to 600 people and then presumably limit it to 300, turning down extra revenue.

I havent said it changes any flexibility. I agree with you, only what i'm seeing in the design.

We are going way of piste here and boring the majority, but the occupancy matters for vent in particular and is detailed as litres per second per person.

Happy to leave it there, to avoid boring others. A few things you have said today do stick out as quite odd though. But doesn't really matter I guess.

TBF I have learnt a lot today. Interesting reading.

I'm not sure what your role is but i'm guessing that your comments come from a more high level view of construction whereas mine is more specialised to specific trades? If you are genuinely interested as an example Part F states whole building ventilation for offices needs to meet a standard of 10 litres of fresh air per person per second, or one litre per second per square metre – whichever is highest.

We are really derailing though.
